The Inspiring Legacy of Bubbles and Biscuit: Shaping the Future of Veterinary Education

At Veterinary Simulator Industries (VSI), we believe in the power of innovation to transform veterinary education. And sometimes, it’s the stories behind the innovation that resonate most deeply. Today, we’re honored to share the heartfelt legacy of Bubbles and Biscuit, the namesakes of our Equine Dystocia Simulator, recently donated by Dr. June A. Donaldson to the BJ Hughes Centre for Clinical Learning at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.

A Heartfelt Donation with a Legacy of Care

The Equine Dystocia Simulator is more than a training tool; it is a bridge to better veterinary care as it offers students hands-on experience in managing the delicate process of foaling. This remarkable donation by Dr. Donaldson encapsulates a deep connection to animals, a passion for education, and a legacy rooted in trust and resilience.

  • Bubbles, a gentle draft horse, was a cherished childhood companion of Dr. Donaldson at her grandparents’ farm. Bubbles symbolized the joy and connection that animals bring to our lives.

  • Biscuit pays homage to the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit, an underdog who defied the odds to achieve greatness—a perfect metaphor for perseverance and collaboration.

Equipping Future Veterinarians for Excellence

The simulators enable veterinary students to gain critical skills in foaling, emphasizing safety, precision, and care. This hands-on learning prepares students to confidently assist with births, safeguarding both the mare and foal while building strong client trust.

Dr. Donaldson’s vision extends beyond the classroom. She hopes her donation inspires respect and gratitude for veterinarians while encouraging students to embrace the core values of dedication, empathy, and excellence.

Continuing the Legacy

Dr. Donaldson’s work and her efforts to memorialize equestrian legends demonstrate her unwavering commitment to honoring the profound bond between humans and animals. Her donation ensures that this legacy will live on in the hands of future veterinary professionals.
